TinyQR Privacy Policy

TinyQR operates on a strict on-device privacy architecture. Your generated QR codes, personal Wi-Fi passwords, contact card vCards, and scan history remain stored securely inside your phone's local database. We do not sell your personal data or transmit your custom QR payload data to external servers.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how TinyQR ("we", "our", or "the App"), available on Apple iOS and Google Android, collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use our mobile application.
We take your personal privacy seriously and are dedicated to complying with Apple App Store Review Guidelines (Section 5.1), Google Play Developer Policies, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and applicable global privacy regulations.
2. Device Permissions and Why We Request Them
TinyQR requests specific device permissions solely to provide core functional features at the time of use:
A. Camera Permission (NSCameraUsageDescription / CAMERA)
Required to scan physical QR codes and barcodes in real time. Video feeds are processed entirely on-device and are never recorded, streamed, or uploaded.
B. Photo Library Access (NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES)
Used when you choose to scan a QR code from an existing screenshot/photo, when you select a custom brand logo or background image for your QR design, or when saving exported high-resolution QR images to your photo gallery.
C. Contacts Permission (NSContactsUsageDescription)
Only requested when you explicitly choose to save a scanned vCard contact into your device's native address book. TinyQR does not read, export, or harvest your existing contact book.
D. Local Network & Wi-Fi Configuration (HotspotConfiguration / Wi-Fi Info)
Used on supported iOS and Android devices to allow one-tap connection to a Wi-Fi network after scanning a Wi-Fi QR code.
E. Approximate / Fine Location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION / ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION)
Required strictly by the Android operating system to verify and associate Wi-Fi network SSIDs during the Wi-Fi QR join action. We do not track or log your geographical location.
3. Information We Collect and Third-Party Services
TinyQR does not require user registration or account creation. We do not collect your name, physical address, or phone number.
To maintain app stability and support free users, the app integrates industry-standard third-party SDKs:
- Firebase Crashlytics & Analytics (Google LLC): Collects anonymized diagnostic data (device model, OS version, crash stack traces) to identify bugs and enhance app performance.
- Google Mobile Ads / AdMob (Google LLC): Displays advertisements in the free tier of the app. In compliance with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT), personalized advertising tracking only occurs if you explicitly grant permission. You can opt out at any time via your device settings.
4. Data Storage and Retention
Your created QR codes, customized templates, and scanned logs are stored exclusively in local device storage. If you delete an item from your History or uninstall the app from your device, your local data is permanently removed.
5. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
TinyQR does not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately so we can take necessary actions.
6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on your location, you hold statutory rights regarding your data:
- The right to access, export, or delete any data held locally on your device.
- The right to opt-out of advertising tracking via iOS ATT or Android Ad ID settings.
- The right to withdraw any granted device permissions at any time via system settings.
